1st Milestone

I had considered 28 miles roundtrip to be a milestone and I hit it.  28 and 1/3 miles maybe more, the computer button sticks and I found it off after I had just started again, etc.  Went out Delong down Tates Creek to 1981 and took that out a ways.  I had no idea there were so many gigantic horse farms out around Lex.  Tates Creek was closed to traffic to rebuild a bridge but the two gravel dams made it easy to walk across.  The workers said they'd be there until midnight.  Glad I could just ride home.  I also was very pleased because on the pull back up Richmond road I increased my average speed, a very hard thing to do at the end of a ride I have found.  It only went up from 16 to 16.1 and I did turn the computer off when I hit stoplights but I just needed to see if I could crank out an increase up one of the longest obstacles.  I raised the seat to get more push on each stroke and it set my quads on fire but I feel that it's a more efficient stroke.  I think the AVS increase might be my proof.  Hills felt just as hard, even more so when the burn set in but on flats I flew but the average was great for how I felt.  Also stopped to help somebody whose back tire had punctured.  He had a CO2 inflation mechanism but both canisters popped without inflating the tire.  Glad I could lend him my pump.  It would have sucked to have to walk his bike back.  All in all I think the 35 r.t. Raven Run ride might be possible soon.  Need to figure out a way to carry more fluids.  Need bike lights too; I keep starting much to late in the evenings.
