1st Milestone

I had considered 28 miles roundtrip to be a milestone and I hit it.  28 and 1/3 miles maybe more, the computer button sticks and I found it off after I had just started again, etc.  Went out Delong down Tates Creek to 1981 and took that out a ways.  I had no idea there were so many gigantic horse farms out around Lex.  Tates Creek was closed to traffic to rebuild a bridge but the two gravel dams made it easy to walk across.  The workers said they'd be there until midnight.  Glad I could just ride home.  I also was very pleased because on the pull back up Richmond road I increased my average speed, a very hard thing to do at the end of a ride I have found.  It only went up from 16 to 16.1 and I did turn the computer off when I hit stoplights but I just needed to see if I could crank out an increase up one of the longest obstacles.  I raised the seat to get more push on each stroke and it set my quads on fire but I feel that it's a more efficient stroke.  I think the AVS increase might be my proof.  Hills felt just as hard, even more so when the burn set in but on flats I flew but the average was great for how I felt.  Also stopped to help somebody whose back tire had punctured.  He had a CO2 inflation mechanism but both canisters popped without inflating the tire.  Glad I could lend him my pump.  It would have sucked to have to walk his bike back.  All in all I think the 35 r.t. Raven Run ride might be possible soon.  Need to figure out a way to carry more fluids.  Need bike lights too; I keep starting much to late in the evenings.

Hills Kill

Did 16.5 miles out Old Frankfort Pike.  Talk about killer.  It was either pedaling up or coasting down, almost no in between.  I can do a low grade for a long distance alot better than many ups and downs.  Might need to adjust the seat higher to take advantage of leg extensions more.  It's still a very pretty ride, but it's an easier drive.  Still kept my average at 15.2 so that's good atleast.

Only 23 miles?

Changed the route a little, went down Walnut Hill Road off of Delong then took Old Richmond to Richmond Rd.  Old Richmond is a long haul at a slight incline in the section I took.  Walnut Hill is gorgeous and free of traffic.  Turns our Juddmonte Farms (see "~20 Miles") is huge.  Really attacked it today and had an average of 17 when I jumped back on Richmond Rd.  Fell to 16.4 for total, half because Richmond is a long long haul and half because I kept hitting lights.  Either you hit none or all it seems.  Legs burnt but I didn't feel winded.  I found myself upshifting going up hills.  Talk about an eye opener.  My shoulder is giving me more problems.  It has been twinged for a bit but the ride aggravated it.  Also the middle back hurts again.  I thought the loop would give me more miles.  I had really hoped to get closer to 30 but that's what riding by the seat of your pants does.  The goal of going out to Raven Run and back seems plausible as long as I'm not doing it the day after another ride.  Overall, a good ride to push myself especially after doing one yesterday.

Feeling Much Better

Did 25.4 miles in three chunks stopping at Lex Polo Club after 5.5 and then after 20.  The first 5.5 flew by.  Body wise I'm fine but need to get more power for the climbs.  Topping out in my gears on flats which feels great.  Feels like I need more low gears though.  I think I saw the average was at 14.7 or something around that.  Same ride but rode to where Delong hits Tates Creek.  Feeling good.

Edit: I forgot to mention the man who gave me a very angry "Fuck You" when I was on Alumni.  He was going the opposite direction so I wasn't even in his lane.  And his car was really crappy.

~20 Miles

Rode ~20 miles (maybe less) according to google maps.  Forgot to turn the computer back on after I stopped once.  Went Richmond Rd to Squires to Armstrong to Delong.  Turned around at Juddmonte farms.  Turns out it is owned by a Middle Eastern Prince.  Felt terrible at end.  Back, shoulders, everything hurt.  Hope I can bounce back.
